Separate but Equal - The Gay Agenda

Separate but Equal - The Gay Agenda

Last week we saw some justice get laid out when Prop 8 was considered unconstitutional. Oh, the many heart attacks that it caused the Mormons - it was just comical. But then our Hope and Change we could believe in President chimed in on the whole case and turned this whole victory for equality on its head..
President Obama remains opposed to same-sex marriage despite a federal judge's decision to strike down a ban on such marriages, a top White House adviser said Thursday.

Senior adviser David Axelrod said the president supports "equality" for gay and lesbian couples, but did not address directly Obama's position on Wednesday's court ruling, which struck down as unconstitutional California's Proposition 8, a 2008 ballot initiative banning same-sex marriage in the state.

"The president does oppose same-sex marriage, but he supports equality for gay and lesbian couples, and benefits and other issues, and that has been effectuated in federal agencies under his control," Axelrod said on MSNBC.

The Obama administration has found itself in a difficult position at times on the issue of gay rights. The president has endorsed civil unions and repealing the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy. He's also expanded benefits to federal employees in same-sex relationships.

But Obama has also come under fire for not moving quickly or aggressively enough on issues important to the LGBT community, which welcomed the Wednesday ruling. The decision argued that gay and lesbian couples were protected against discrimination by the Constitution, and the ban violated constitutional due process and equal protection. The decision is expected to face appeal, perhaps all the way to the Supreme Court.

Axelrod noted that Obama had opposed Prop 8 all along.

"The president opposed Proposition 8 at the time — he felt it was divisive and mean spirited," he said, adding that Obama believes that governing marriage is "an issue for the states."
Seriously Obama? Fucking seriously?! Focus on - "The president does oppose same-sex marriage, but he supports equality for gay and lesbian couples"

Come on, Obama. At least get out of the sentence before contradicting yourself. You see, they deserve equality, but not the exact same thing... Whatever bullshit that is. It's almost as if they're separate, but still equal.

How can Obama even come up with this notion? Just picture him on the podium saying;
"I, America's first black president, do not see anything ironic about that- why do you ask?".

I have an idea, why don't we go back to the days of Separate but Equal, maybe he needs to understand what exactly it's like to be treated as a second class citizen again. Oh wait, he was born in Hawaii to a white mother.

Obama was raised on the hard streets of Harvard and he stuck it to 'da man' by smoking a joint, you see he was just keeping it real. Like he ever felt any sort of real prejudice. He's literally using people for political expediency and doesn't want to let go of power. What a fucking joke. Can't say I'm really too surprised by all this though.

Hell, Dick Cheney has a more progressive stance on gay rights than the president. That should tell you something.
"I think that freedom means freedom for everyone. As many of you know, one of my daughters is gay and it is something we have lived with for a long time in our family. I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish. Any kind of arrangement they wish. The question of whether or not there ought to be a federal statute to protect this, I don't support."
-Not Barack Obama
Hell, even Target apologized for supporting anti-gay politicians
Target CEO Apologizes For Company's Support Of Tom Emmer

The head of the Target Corporation is now taking the amazing step of apologizing for the company's financial support of Tom Emmer, the presumptive Republican nominee for governor in the company's home state of Minnesota, after coming under fire from gay rights activists.

And in a further sign of how tricky corporate political spending can actually be in practice in the post-Citizens United world, the company will also set up a review process for any future political donations.

As we noted last week, Target donated $150,000 to MN Forward, a business-backed group that is running ads for Emmer, focused on economic issues. This was made possible because of the Citizens United decision from the U.S. Supreme Court this past January, which opened the door for corporations to directly spend big money on political campaigns.

The company was facing a backlash from some consumers and activists in this liberal state, however, due to Emmer's support for a proposed state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, and his close associations with the religious right. And now, Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel has written a letter to employees, apologizing for the company's involvement.

"While I firmly believe that a business climate conducive to growth is critical to our future, I realize our decision affected many of you in a way I did not anticipate, and for that I am genuinely sorry," wrote Steinhafel, also adding: "The diversity of our team is an important aspect of our unique culture and our success as a company, and we did not mean to disappoint you, our team or our valued guests."

So the dude still has 150k, but at least someone claims to feel sad about it so that makes it all better. It's a good thing he apologized because even Homos demand the right to shop for design knick-knacks built by wage slaves with a clean conscience of not supporting the same people who hate you.

Who said consumer activism doesn't work? Now I can end my boycott and once again save .15 cents of personal lubricant. Then again, who the fuck shops at Target? I guess Mexicans. Whites, as we well know, go to Walmart and blacks go to K-mart. We all know this, don't we?

For what it's worth, Walmart has been totally marginalized by liberals ostensibly for its policies but more so because the stores are full of poor people but Target is like a darling of yuppie folks. This is mainly due to the fact that while Target has awful policies, Walmart's are far worse.

Walmart actively uses its money to try and break up teachers unions such as it's trying to do in DC right now. Besides that, it's a case of out-of-sight, out-of-mind. Walmart's are always in the middle of nowhere so it's really easy to avoid them, but Target isn't and your liberal friends won't get mad at you if you decided to go shopping there.

Over all, this whole move amounts to the simple statement by target in them saying "I am very sorry that I helped fund your inability to marry, now can you come and buy all your shit at target, Gay people?"
