Disney Dressing Up For Halloween

Disney Dressing Up For Halloween

Disney is always fun around Halloween. Mainly because the Haunted Mansion gets a Nightmare Before Christmas makeover. I'm one of those nuts who really enjoyed Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. I've gone over this plenty of times already. I liked it from the moment I saw it in theaters and even though Disney had swept it under the rug for almost a decade after it was released, I still went to the Halloween screenings of it and bought a lot of the crap that was involved with it. I was a fan. Then Hot Topic came around and really tainted it for me. Oh well, at least I can enjoy the good with the bad.

The good was that they dress up the haunted mansion with the Nightmare theme every year and they added a couple more things last year that I didn't get a chance to see since I didn't go directly around Halloween. Like the day of the dead shrines. And it looks like there's going to be more changes and things special for Halloween at Disney this year. Among the changes are going to be:

Disney will add a “haunted” overlay to Space Mountain and a fireworks “spooktacular” for the Halloween season, theme park officials said.

The “Halloween Time” event, which runs from Sept. 25 through Nov. 1, is included in the price of admission to the Anaheim theme park.

The “Ghost Galaxy” Space Mountain overlay, which originally premiered at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2007, features a new soundtrack and ghostly and ghoulish projections inside the darkened roller coaster building, according to Screamscape.

The Halloween-themed fireworks show, hosted by “Master of Scaremonies” Jack Skellington of “Nightmare Before Christmas” fame, will include nods to Disney villains.

Many of those villains — Cruella de Vil (”101 Dalmatians”), Captain Hook (”Peter Pan”) and Queen of Hearts (”Alice in Wonderland”) — will also be wandering the theme park, signing autographs and passing out treats.

Across the way at Disney's California Adventure, “Mickey’s Trick-or-Treat Party” will run on Oct. 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23 and 28-31. The separate-admission event — which includes games, music and a Disney character parade — lets costumed children trick-or-treat throughout the park.

Sounds pretty good to me. I really can't make fun of this choice. I mean, it really does sound like something I'll go see. Which is a good thing that I have an annual pass for the park.

Yeah, slow news day and I really can't talk shit or even make fun of this news. I'm all for it. So surprises at the park aren't the only thing. I'm sure I surprised you with this lack of typical blog from me.

See you at the park come October time.
